Mark W. Altman served for 24 years in enlisted and commissioned roles, including with the 1st Armored Division and 101st Airborne Division, and commanded a movement-control team in Iraq. Today, he lives with service-connected PTSD and depression.

Juno, an African Boerboel, is more than an expedition partner. She is Mark's trained service dog—waking him from nightmares, helping him through distress and making sure he never faces the difficult miles alone.

The planned journey

From the Canadian border to the end of the road.

The route follows the East Coast south from Calais through historic communities and major milestones, ending at Key West. Weather, safety and the realities of expedition travel will shape each day's progress.

Juno's Odyssey is an adaptive-cycling expedition intended to raise awareness of the challenges veterans face, demonstrate what remains possible after injury and hardship, and generate support for Wounded Warrior Project.

Along the way, Mark and Juno will meet veterans, visit historic places and share the unvarnished realities of life on the road—from hard climbs and mechanical failures to the people who make the journey worthwhile.
